My name is Robert Redd and thank you for visiting my author page. I live in central Florida, south of the “world’s most famous beach.”
My main historical interests are the Civil War and the history of the area I live in. I am one of those very lucky people who have a great job in the field of history. I am Executive Director for the New Smyrna Museum of History. I also serve as a volunteer member of the Volusia County Historic Preservation Board.
I am what would most likely be called a “regional”, or “local” historian. I write about the area I know; Florida. I don’t have a particular time period I specialize in but rather write about what interests me. If it’s interesting and there’s a need I will pursue it. Trust me, the ideas are endless.
My third book, published by Arcadia/History Press, was released in September 2016.
I have recently signed contracts for my fourth and fifth books, both to be published by Arcadia. I am currently working on a book titled Central Florida’s Korean War Veterans. This will continue a series begun by my fried Bob Grenier. He has written similar books dealing with Civil War and World War II veterans. I am also currently working with a coauthor on a book tentatively titled New Smyrna Beach Then and Now. This will show an old photo with a current view of the same location. This will show how the area has changed or stayed the same. Look for both some time in 2018.
I have been blessed to receive solid constructive advice from other authors and hope to be able to do the same for others. If you would like to contact me please see my “contact” page.
