Upcoming Events November 13-19, 2015

Sorry it’s a bit late but here are a few options to make your weekend enjoyable.

The Spacecoast Postcard Club will be holding a show this Saturday in Rockledge. Admission is $3 or click on the link and print a $1 off coupon. I plan on being there at some point.

The 39th Annual Daytona Greek Festival will be held over the entire weekend at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Enjoy music, dancing, and plenty of food.

If you live in Ormond Beach check the 7th Annual Ormond Beach Riverfest Seafood Festival.  The event runs both Saturday and Sunday. Free admission.

The Volusia County Fair closes on Sunday. Click the link for an entertainment schedule and for pricing.

On Thursday, November 19 the New Smyrna Museum of History will present Zach Zacharias from the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach. He will be discussing Lost Roadside Attractions. Zach is a popular local speaker so it should be a great event. Free admission though donations are appreciated. The talk starts at 6:30pm.

Upcoming Events November 7-14, 2015

Saturday, November 7 9a-5p 1st Annual New Smyrna Beach Antique and Vintage Market. This will take place on Canal Street. Click here to see the poster for the event. For more information call 386-426-7825.

Sunday, November 8 at 2pm the Menorcan Cultural Society of St. Augustine will hold the annual Menorcan Walk. The walk will start at the Father Camps statue at the Cathedral (corner of St. George and Cathedral Place) and will proceed to Tolomato Cemetery. They are asking that you arrive by 1:30pm and wear appropriate clothing for the weather.

Thursday, November 12 at 1:30 the New Smyrna Museum of History presents Andrew Foster. Mr. Foster is the great grandson of Charles Coe. Coe was an author, historian, collector, newspaper publisher, and more. The Glencoe area of New Smyrna Beach is named for the Coe family. Mr. Coe will be presenting family history and will have artifacts on display. The event is free but donations are appreciated.

Saturday, November 14 from 9a-5p the Space Coast Post Card Club will be sponsoring a show at the Knights of Columbus building located at 3435 S. Fiske Blvd. in Rockledge. Admission is $3 or get a $1 coupon from the website. Call 321-720-1379 for further details.

Saturday, November 14 at 9:30a the Ormond Beach Historical Society presents Dan Friend who will be discussing DeLand Tug Boats. 42 N. Beach Street in Ormond Beach. Call 386-677-7005 for details. $2 admission for non members.

 

Upcoming Events October 17-November 8

Here are a few events that you might consider attending over the next few weeks. In some fashion they are all historically themed. OK you have to stretch on a couple but you get the picture. Back in the Day Lecture Series Speaker Mike Bennett will discuss the wreck of the Vera Cruz. Ormond Beach Historical Society, $2 for non-members, free for members. Saturday, October 17 9:30am.

Florida Harmonica Championships The 10th annual championships will be held on Sunday, October 18. A workshop will be held at noon and the championship starts at 1pm. The event will be held at the Beachside Tavern.

A History of Glencoe, FL and Captain Charles Coe Hosted by the New Smyrna Museum of History. November 5 at 1:30. Coe descendant Andrew Foster will be sharing family history and artifacts. Click here for more information. New Smyrna Beach Antique and Vintage Market November 7 on Canal Street in downtown NSB. The event is from 9am-5p.

Halifax Art Festival , the second oldest, continuous art festival in the state of Florida, will be held on November 7 & 8 in downtown Daytona Beach. The festival will be located on Beach Street between Orange Avenue and Bay Street. More than 200 artisans will be in attendance.
